Install Proxmox

  1. Insert your Proxmox USB drive that you made earlier into the RMU
  2. Ensure the RMU is powered off
  3. Plug the USB into the RMU
  4. Start the server and press the F11 key repeatedly to reach the Boot Menu. 01 - BIOS Boot Screen.jpg
  5. Select the Flash Drive and press enter (screen may differ) 02 - Select USB Boot Media.jpg
  6. Select Install Proxmox VE (Terminal UI) and press enter IKVM capture (31).jpg
  7. Select I agree and press enter 04 - EULA.jpg
  8. Select Advanced options and press enter 05 - Install Boot Disk.jpg
  9. Select ext4 and press enter to change this setting
    • Note: For SuperMicros with two internal drives , select ZFS (RAID 1) for SuperMicros with one drive select ZFS (RAID 0) 06 - Install Boot Disk - Select ZFS (RAID1).jpg
  10. Select Ok and press enter 07 - Install Boot Disk - Accept ZFS.jpg
  11. Select Next and press enter 08 - Start Installer.jpg
  12. Select your Country, Timezone (Recommended UTC), and Keyboard layout 09 - Select Country.jpg 10 - Select System Timezone.jpg 11 - Select Keyboard Type.jpg
  13. Select Next and press enter
  14. Enter in a password, please make this a strong password, and store it in your password manager
  15. Enter in an email to receive alerts
  16. Select Next and press enter
  17. These instructions assume that you followed the RMU Cabling instructions earlier in the document
  18. Select the Management Interface and change it to eno1 and press enter
  19. For Hostname (FQDN): input*<dc>-rmu.<domain> (if supporting multiple sites).* This will be the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) name for the RMU itself as added to the DNS in the Prerequisites section. in the External IP and network mask determined in the Prerequisites section.
  20. For IP address (CIDR): enter the External IP and Netmask determined in the Prerequisites section
  21. For Gateway address: enter in your public Gateway determined in the Prerequisites section
  22. For DNS Server address: enter in 1.1.1.1
  23. Select Next and press enter
  24. Look over to ensure all information is correct
    1. Select Install and press enter
    2. You should now see the login screen. If need be you can login as root and the password you set earlier
    3. Take note of the IP address and port shown on this screen
